To reset Waste Ink Counters in Epson L380 and other models You have to do following:

1. Download latest WIC version V5.0.40 or higher (available for Windows, MAC OS, Linux).
2. Connect the printer by USB or WiFi to Your PC. Disconnect all other printers.
3. Run WIC Reset Utility.

4. Click on RESET WASTE COUNTER button.

5. Enter Reset Key (Buy Full Reset Key) or Trial Reset Key (enter TRIAL).

6. Wait untill WIC resets the counters. Then You have to switch OFF the printer!

7. You’ll see congratulations message. Waste Ink Counter has been reset now.

Downgrade printers firmware in Service Mode and in Regular Mode

WIC Utility supports firmware downgrade for all supported (supported models list) Epson Inkjet printers.

You can first check if firmware downgrade is available for Your printer model:
Go to Supported Models Tab, find Your printer model and put mouse to letter [I] – You will see new window with list of options available with Yours printer model. See at the bottom of the page – Change Firmware – if You can see it – that means You can make firmware operation.
Firmware downgrade

Now You have to check your current firmware version and compare with available in WIC.
If Your current firmware version is older then available in WIC – You dont need to make firmware downgrade because it will be not downgrade but update.

Firmware downgrade can be performed in WIC in 2 ways – in Service Mode and in Regular Mode – You can see this information when checking available firmware version – see picture above.

NOTE: To make firmware downgrade in regular mode – all ink cartridges must be recognized by printer. Error 0x9A on Epson XP series printers

Error 0x9A means – “Circuit error (include blowout of a fuse). Main board failure”

Printhead electrics have been flooded with ink causing this error.
The ink get to electric cirquit on printhead and electrical jacks.

Solution:
Unistall printhead and clean all electrical jacks and dry them very good for about 2 days.
Then install it to printer back.

You can get printer status from Epson Status Monitor utility.

For Windows:

EPSON Status Monitor utility gives full information on the printer status.

You can access EPSON Status Monitor utility in 2 ways:
1. Double-click the printer shortcut icon in the Windows taskbar.

2. Open the printer driver, click the Maintenance tab, then click the EPSON Status Monitor 3 button.

When you access EPSON Status Monitor 3, the following window appears:

EPSON Status Monitor 3 provides the following information:
Current Status:
If the ink is low or expended, the How to button appears in the EPSON Status Monitor 3 window. Clicking How to displays ink cartridge replacement instructions and moves the print head to the ink cartridge replacement position.
Ink Levels:
EPSON Status Monitor 3 provides a graphic display of the ink cartridge status.
Information:
You can view information about the installed ink cartridges by clicking Information.
Technical Support:
You can access the online User’s Guide from EPSON Status Monitor 3. If you encounter a problem, click Technical Support in the EPSON Status Monitor 3 window.

Error messages.
If a problem occurs during printing, an error message appears in the text box of the progress meter window. For more detailed information, click Technical Support to access the online User’s Guide.

If EPSON Status Monitor detects a printer problem, it will inform you with an error message.

Epson Status Monitor Utility is a utility that monitors Your printer and gives information on errors and printer ink levels.

When You want to use WIC Reset Utility – You have to disable this utility. Follow the instructions:

1. Open the Printers and Faxes / Printers / Devices and Printers folder and enter the Maintenance / Utility section of the printer driver.

(Open the Control Panel. Choose Printers and Other Hardware category.)

2. Right-click on the printer icon, then left-click on Printing Preferences.

3. Click on the Maintenance or Utility tab.

4. Click the Speed & Progress / Extended Settings… button.

Check printers firmware current version.

You can check current version of firmware in Your printer very easy.
Connect the printer by USB cable. Run WIC utility. Download WIC utility HERE.
Click on REPORT button and You’ll get Your printers current firmware version at the bottom of the report.

Check available to downgrade firmware version.

Run the WIC Utility. Go to Supported Models tab.
Put your mouse on letter [i] at the left of printer model You need. You will be able to see all available functiona You can do with this printer model. Also You can see Firmware Version available for downgrading.

If available in WIC firmware version is older then current version in Your printer – You can make firmware downgrade to solve the problem when Ink Cartridges cant be recognized by printer because its firmware has been updated from Epson server.
